KAUDULLA COMMUNITY FARM

The farm

The Kaudulla Community Farm

Kaudulla Community Farm was established to demonstrate sustainable agriculture practices that benefit both communities and the environment.

Located in the rural Polonnaruwa District of Sri Lanka, the farm provides a practical model for climate-resilient farming while promoting biodiversity conservation and sustainable land use.

The initiative integrates several approaches to sustainable agriculture, including organic cultivation, soil regeneration and water conservation.
The farm also serves as a learning site where farmers, students and community members can observe and learn sustainable farming techniques.

Sustainable Agriculture

The farm promotes environmentally responsible farming methods that reduce reliance on chemical fertilisers and pesticides. Crop diversification and organic farming practices improve soil fertility while producing healthy food for local communities.

Biodiversity Protection

The project promotes biodiversity-friendly farming systems that encourage tree planting, habitat protection and ecological balance within agricultural landscapes.

Soil Restoration

Healthy soil is essential for sustainable food production. The farm applies regenerative agricultural practices, including composting and natural soil enrichment methods, to restore soil health.
