Kaudulla Community Farm demonstrates practical solutions for sustainable agriculture while supporting biodiversity, soil restoration, and community resilience in rural Sri Lanka. The farm is certified by Good Market and operates using 100% organic, chemical-free farming practices.
Key environmental and community outcomes include:

Trees and Perennial Crops Planted

Over 2,000 trees and perennial crops, including coconut, mango, lemon, moringa, arecanut, pepper, wood apple and other fruit species have been planted to support biodiversity and sustainable agroforestry.

Land Under Sustainable Cultivation

Approximately 4.5 hectares of land are being cultivated using organic and environmentally responsible farming practices.

Farmers and Community Members Trained

More than 30 farmers and community participants have received training and practical experience in sustainable agriculture, agroforestry, and soil management.

Certified Organic Production

The farm uses zero chemical fertilisers and implements sustainable practices such as composting, natural soil enrichment, and environmentally friendly pest management to maintain soil health and ecosystem balance.

Biodiversity-Friendly Farming System

A diversified agroforestry system combining trees, fruits, vegetables and seasonal crops improves ecosystem balance, enhances soil fertility, and supports local wildlife habitats.

Crop Diversity

More than 15 crop and tree varieties are cultivated, including staple crops (cassava, peanuts, paddy), fruit trees, and spices, which together strengthen food security and ecological resilience.
